Tess's Cakes - Wedding and Celebration Cakes
Frequently asked Questions

When do I need to book?
Overall the earlier you book the better. We work on a 1st come 1st serve basis and certain dates fill up quickly, once you have paid a deposit the date is secure. In a bit of a pickle/short on time? get in touch and we will see what we can do for you.

Do you only do the designs in your galleries?
No, if you have seen a picture of a cake elsewhere or have your own ideas then let us know we are here to turn your ideas and dreams into reality.

How many will my cake feed?
If you let us know how many you want to feed then we will quote and produce you a cake for this amount of people

How do I store my cake?
All cakes should be kept at room temperature and out of direct sunlight on a flat stable surface. Cakes should never be put into the fridge. Sponge cakes are best eaten within 3 days of collection/delivery. Our rich fruit cake will last longer but we recommend to remove the icing and marzipan before tightly wrapping in clingfilm.

Do you deliver?
Yes, we do offer free delivery within 5 miles of CO4 3SJ after that we will charge £0.75p per mile(round trip) for this delivery service. Cakes can be delivered on specific dates but I cannot deliver to set times it will be either am/pm. We will be in contact with you a couple of days before to advise of an approximate time.

How and When do I pay?
Payment can be either cheque or cash or BACS sorry No cards accepted. A 50% deposit is taken at time of booking and the remainder of the balance for all orders other than wedding orders (please see wedding specific) is due in cash upon collection/delivery. Failure to meet our payment terms unless otherwise arranged may result in us cancelling your order. Please make cheques payable to Carl Travers and send to 10 Ariel Close, Colchester, Essex, CO4 3SJ.
Nb. no booking is secure until your deposit is received, bookings will be secured on a 1st come 1st served basis.

Complaints are very rare and due to the amount of work Luca and I put into each individual cake we take them seriously. Complaints regarding the decoration of the cake can be easily repaired so errors of this nature must be pointed out upon delivery/collection so as to give us the opportunity to correct them.
Where the complaint is in regards to the quality of the cake, the cake, or remainder of the cake, must be returned within 2 days to ensure I am able to fairly assess the nature of the complaint.
